Job summary

Halton Region in Burlington is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker at Creek Way Village Long Term Care Facility to provide respectful, resident-centered dining service.

You’ll work up to 40 hours per week, with duties including menu re-thermalizing, ensuring food safety, and supporting nutrition services under supervision.

Applicants need a valid Food Service Worker training or enrollment, strong teamwork, and a commitment to Residents' Bill of Rights.

Qualifications

• Completed or enrolled in a Food Service Worker program in Ontario.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Team oriented with effective communication.
• Understanding of Residents’ Bill of Rights and LTC standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, courteous, individualized service and create a homelike atmosphere.
• Re-thermalize menu items and ensure finished product quality.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Perform cleaning, dishwashing, and dining room setup; monitor servery equipment.
• Transport food wagons and supervise stock rotation; discard outdated items.
• Train coworkers and support special events or functions as needed.

Job Summary

This role reports to the Supervisor, Nutrition Services, providing respectful and individualized service at all times. This includes providing a “homelike atmosphere” by getting to know the residents names, diets, consistencies and communicates concerns to the Registered Nurse and Dietitian.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Providerespectful, courteous, pleasant and individualized service at all times, provides “homelike atmosphere” by getting to know the residents names, diets, consistencies, likes/dislikes, observes eating patterns, communicates concerns to Registered Nurse and Dietitian, Supervisor.
• Re-thermalizing menu items.
• Responsible for the finished quality of all products.
• Responsible and accountable to all aspects of food safety, departmental procedures regarding sanitation and food preparation.
• Performcleaning, dishwashing and setting up dining room, accountable for microbial tests conducted on servery, dining room equipment or surface areas.
• Transportfood wagons and dish wagons to and from servery.
• Pickup supplies and products from production, checks quality, rotates stock on hand, and discards outdated products.
• Trainco-workers.
• Supply forspecial events or functions as per requisitions.
• Providerequired documentation for all audits, food usage sheets, and ensures that any relevant information regarding the residents or the servery operation is passed on in writing via the communication book to the appropriate person.
• Performother related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

• Successfully completed or are enrolled in a Food Service Worker training program at an established college or registered private career college in Ontario.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Be team oriented and possess effective communication skills.
• Possesses an understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Long Term Care.

Preferred

• At least one year of related experience in a kitchen and/or servery.

• Flexibility to work outside of core business hoursincluding evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the position; including lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs.

Employment Conditions

• Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment.
• Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), two-step tuberculosis test or Quanti-FERON-TB Gold plus test by the first day of employment.
