Job summary

Tirecraft Dorchester, ON is looking for a Diesel Service Technician to maintain and repair our customer fleet of diesel vehicles, with emphasis on diagnostics, attention to detail, and teamwork. Afternoon shifts: 3:30 pm to 12:00 am. We offer benefits and opportunities to grow within the company.

Join a team passionate about the industry; wages range from $39.00-$44.00 hourly based on experience. This is an hourly position with potential for future ownership opportunities through our programs.

Qualifications

• Diesel Service Technician 310T or 310J certification.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate drivability diagnostics.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and requirements.
• Inspect, road test, diagnose diesel vehicles with computerized testing devices.
• Repair or replace diesel system components including fuel, brakes, engine and drive train.
• Evaluate repaired systems against manufacturer specifications.
• Perform oil changes, lubrications and tune ups.
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair needs.
• Test and adjust units to specifications for proper performance.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and customer service specific requirements
• Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate fault
• Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of diesel systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
• Evaluate and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specification
• Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups
• Advise customers and/or Service Advisor on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements
• Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or determine whether to repair or replace unit
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
• Test and adjust units to specifications to proper performance

Qualifications

• Diesel Service Technician 310T or 310J certification
• Consistently able to work independently
• Intermediate drivability diagnostics
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
• Strong Communication Skills
• Problem Solving Skills to work independently and with a team
