Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and equipment.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including Caterpillar and other brands.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics.
- Conduct repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, and farm machinery.
- Overhaul transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of various components as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards while performing heavy lifting and tire service tasks.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in diesel engine repair and automotive repair.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Experience with electrical systems and troubleshooting is preferred.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals effectively.
- Previous dealership experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all repairs performed.
- Capability to lift heavy objects safely and efficiently as part of the job requirements.
