VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is hiring for Diesel Engine Mechanics to work at our Vancouver Maintenance Center (or mission maintenance center). As a Diesel Engine Mechanic, you will carry out preventive maintenance and repair on locomotives and rolling stock. You will determine the causes of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic defects and perform the repairs. You will also conduct inspections and maintenance on the locomotives in compliance with VIA’s preventive maintenance program. The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed) and the work schedule may vary (day, evening, night, weekend, and holidays). Candidates must be available to work any day of the week as the Maintenance Center is open 7 days a week, 24h during peak season.
