Responsibilities
- Responsible for operating a sheet fed die cutter at the highest efficiency possible while following standard operating procedures and work instructions to produce high quality product.
- Follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
- Work together with the Sheet Fed Press Operator, back up Sheet Fed Die Cut Operator, Die Cut Lead Operator and the Press Lead Operator.
- Set and adjust die cut machine controls.
- Monitor die cutter while in operation and perform machine changeover tasks.
- Assist press support to stage dies and stripping tools.
- Maintain quality, productivity and waste according to set standards.
- Perform all job tasks utilizing required personal protective equipment and correct safety procedures.
- Comply with and follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure product is die cut according to production schedule.
- Keep work area and machine organized and clean.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. May be required to work some overtime.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
- Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
- Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
- Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
- Ability to see clearly at various distances and colors; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distance and spatial relationships; and adjust the eye to bring objects into sharp focus.
- Ability to use hands for 100% of work time; reach above shoulders for 50% of work time; and use feet to operate machines for 30% of work time.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds or less (25% of work time); 25 pounds or less (30% of work time); 50 pounds or less (25% of work time); and may lift 100 pounds or less (5% of work time).
- May be required to use sense of smell.
Working Conditions
- Work near moving mechanical parts.
- Nearly constant exposure to vibrations, noise and chemical odors.
- Work with a variety of chemicals.
