Your Opportunity:
Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta, is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Sonographer I to join our dedicated team. Reporting directly to the ultrasound Supervisor, the successful candidate will play a critical role in our imaging department, demonstrating advanced competence in ultrasound imaging techniques, equipment operation, and strong leadership through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, your responsibilities will include excellent patient care while performing accurate sonographic examinations to investigate, document and provide information about pathology while applying critical thinking and collaboration with Radiologists, Cardiologists, fellow Sonographers and other medical support staff. You will perform a wide variety of exams including both general and cardiac imaging studies.
Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and taking initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT) and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Canadian Registered Generalist Sonographer (CRGS), Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS). Consideration will be given to candidates who are eligible for CRGS and CRCS credential. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Must be able to work all scheduled shifts including on-call.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pediatric patients is an asset. Preceptor experience training ultrasound students is an asset. IV certification is an asset.
