Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.

ROLE

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare you will,

  • Provide the required ultrasound service efficiently and effectively for the public in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform a thorough and accurate ultrasound examination in a caring and professional manner
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s (MAHC) policy
  • Identify various pathologies and acquire additional images, Doppler and measurements when appropriate
  • Review images acquired to ensure they are of diagnostic quality prior to submitting for reporting
  • Provide thorough and accurate documentation of technical impressions for the interpreting physician
  • Notify the interpreting physician of urgent or high-risk findings
  • Assist the Radiologist with ultrasound guided special procedures

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

  • Successful completion of a CMRITO approved training program which includes both didactic teaching and supervised clinical experience
  • Registration with the CMRITO as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS)
  • Knowledge of musculoskeletal, vascular and special procedures an asset. Training will be provided as required

Note: Registry eligible personnel may be offered a position prior to completion of registry examinations but must provide evidence of successful completion by date of hire.

REQUIRED SKILL(S) & EXPERIENCE(S)

  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of ultrasound techniques in both theory and practice
  • Sound knowledge of equipment and appropriate skills to operate equipment
  • Professional and effective communication skills when interacting with patients, staff members and physicians
  • Organizational and prioritization skills to perform required duties effectively and efficiently

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location: Multi-Site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.

Conditions of employment for external hires includes;

  • Proof of immunization and vaccination records to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check
