The salary range for this position is CAD $40.83 - $50.94 / hour.

Detailed Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor and Site Coordinator, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer practices in accordance with professional standards and the client and family-centered care model, aligned with Fraser Health’s vision and values.

The role involves performing abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts ultrasound examinations, ensuring patient safety, and participating in related committees and research projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare patients for testing by reviewing requisitions, clinical history, and explaining procedures.
  2. Perform ultrasound procedures across various body regions, ensuring image quality and proper documentation.
  3. Assist in procedural rooms, setting up trays, assisting radiologists, and supporting patient comfort.
  4. Check images for quality, prepare reports, and discuss findings with radiologists.
  5. Manage workflow, transportation, and scheduling of patients efficiently.
  6. Monitor and perform quality control on equipment, reporting malfunctions.
  7. Demonstrate procedures and train staff and students.
  8. Maintain records and participate in research projects.
  9. Follow safety protocols and report unsafe conditions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience

Graduate of a recognized Medical Diagnostic Sonography program; certification with Sonography Canada or ARDMS; or certification with Sonography Canada and passing the CCSA exam.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of sonography procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Experience with diagnostic imaging equipment and safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform examinations according to departmental standards.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Prioritization skills and CPR certification.
  • Proficiency with computerized information systems.
  • Physical ability to perform duties.
