A government entity in Canada seeks a Diagnostic Imaging Clerk Scheduler. The role involves coordinating appointments for imaging services, using Meditech for patient management, and assisting in examinations. Candidates should have Grade 10 education, strong computer skills, and experience in cross-cultural settings. Fluency in multiple official languages is a bonus.
Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, the Diagnostic Imaging Clerk Scheduler (Scheduler) is the first point of contact for all new and existing patients. This position coordinates and communicates Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT appointments with patients, Emergency department, In-patient ward, Clinic, and communities across the Baffin Region. The incumbent will work closely with Ultrasound and CT Technologists to provide medical administrative duties and prepare patients for their scheduled examinations.
The Scheduler provides both internal and external communications and is required to be a team player and a representative of quality patient care delivery. The position is responsible for using Meditech for patient lookup, accessing reports, scheduling appointments, and entering examinations in Meditech upon patient’s arrival. The Scheduler will also look up patient’s previous exams in Picture Archival and Communication Systems (PACS), scan documents into PACS for review, and work with PACS administrators to resolve PACS issues related to Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT. Other duties include assisting technologists during examinations, such as providing oral contrast for CT exams, and providing the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, with requisitions for supplies needed for Ultrasound, Mammography, and CT.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a minimum of Grade ten (10). The incumbent must have significant computer skills and software knowledge, including Meditech experience. Direct patient care experience in hospital or clinic settings and experience working in cross-cultural environments are also required. Completion of a Medical Terminology course is an asset. This is a highly sensitive position, and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check, is required.
The official languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French. Applicants may submit their resumes in any of these languages. Fluency in more than one official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also assets.
