Dewatering Test Work Specialist

Introduction

We are seeking a Dewatering Test Work Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for mobilization, operation, analysis, demobilization, and reporting of dewatering tests performed on mining and industrial application samples. Primary activities include Thickener, Clarifier, Inclined Plate Setting, Pressure Filtration and Vacuum Filtration test work, with opportunity to support in many other areas of testing when primary activities are not in demand. In this position, you will report to the Test Work Manager.

This position is mainly located in Sudbury, ON but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. There will be 50-75% of travel required for the role.

Team you belong to

You will join a team of Dewatering Test Work Specialists who support the Dewatering Testing Team Manager in the execution of dewatering test work on time, on budget and within scope. Also responsible for assisting and supporting in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and continual development in health and safety protocols in the Testing Facility/Center.

What You’ll Do

  • Mobilize and operate dewatering test work equipment in line with Metso procedures and standards.
  • Support daily operations at the Testing Facility/Center.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, construct, and calibrate testing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct on-site client testing campaigns as needed.
  • Mentor and guide new testing team interns or hires.

Who You Are

  • Relevant degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school (Mining or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • CSA and/or CCIL laboratory testing certifications are an asset.
  • 1+ years of experience in laboratory testing.
  • Experience in the mining industry is an asset.
  • Practical work experience in laboratory testing is essential.
  • Physically capable of remaining stationary, positioning around testing equipment, operating testing equipment, and communicating with team members.
  • Able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and mobile equipment.
  • Adaptable to adverse weather conditions.
  • Capable of handling 50lb buckets onto test equipment at heights from 1-4 ft and removing them onto a skid or lifting aid for transportation.
