DevOps Engineer

Our client is the leading mobile event technology platform for premium brands! Based out of the Vancouver area, they are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer!

Their servers are onsite in Vancouver, BC, so you will occasionally be required to physically tend to them.

You should have a strong operations background, and automation, infrastructure and Linux experience. This role is both hands-on, as well as architectural with a goal of optimizing infrastructure deployments.

What You'll Do

1. Work alongside your DevOps and engineering colleagues to ensure high availability and security for the world’s biggest events and brands.
2. Build out architecture and automation.
3. Dive deep and apply superb troubleshooting skills to resolve problems at their root, looking for failure patterns amenable to long-term solutions via simplification and automation.
4. Work with development teams to build and manage continuous integration/deployment.
5. Work with internal stakeholders and external customers to achieve high availability, low latency, and high levels of security.
6. Build and manage our Kubernetes/Container Orchestrations environment(s).
7. Support and build out their cloud computing infrastructure - including using Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, RackSpace and others.
8. Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources.
9. Develop appropriate metrics to demonstrate performance at improving operational efficiency.

What You Bring

1. An experienced DevOps Professional, this is an intermediate position 3+ years required.
2. You are driven to continuously improve systems and processes, you are passionate about automation and DevOps. This is not a role where you sit back and wait for tickets; they want people who feel a sense of ownership over their infrastructure.
3. Experience in a 24x7 production environment, especially one based on Linux.
4. Several years of experience with AWS.
5. Linux Experience with performance testing, tuning and monitoring.
6. Experience with Python, PHP, and automation (Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible).
7. SQL experience (Postgres, MySQL).
8. Experience with Javascript / NodeJS.
9. Knowledge of CI tools like Git, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, and Agile/Scrum development methodology.
10. HELM, Redis, Varnish, Apache/Nginx, GlusterFS.
