Job Description / Key Purpose of the Job :

DNEG, a highly regarded studio specialising in animation and visual effects (VFX), seeks a skilled and experienced Rigging Developer with a strong passion for technical problem-solving to join their rigging department. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Animation or VFX studios and a thorough understanding of rigging workflows and techniques. Responsibilities include developing, enhancing, and creating new workflow tools and rigging modules, troubleshooting, supporting the team, and organizing training sessions to ensure team proficiency and up-to-date documentation.

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties
  • Design, build, and support tools and techniques related to character rigging, crowds, and CFX workflows.
  • Collaborate with rigging artists to improve workflows.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and documented solutions.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper data flow in character workflows.
Job Requirements / Must Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least five years of experience as a Character Technical Director
  • Over two years of software development experience
  • Proficiency with Maya API
  • Experience with object-oriented software design
  • Ability to work closely with end-users and develop solutions accordingly
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to balance quick turnaround with quality
Additional Skills / Nice To Have
  • Experience with Ziva + Bifrost
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with other DCC applications like Houdini or Blender
  • Proficiency in C++ software development
  • Knowledge of USD in production pipelines
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5
