Job Summary

A Product Developer at Mackage is responsible for driving the development, engineering, product execution and specifications for innovative, technologically advanced products of the highest level.

What you’ll do

• Manage moderate to high-level product development of assigned styles from design concept through to production-ready hand-off, ensuring technical engineering meets or exceeds expectations.
• Track the development schedule of all products to ensure a timely completion following the pre-determined product development calendar.
• Ensure daily communication and needed follow up with vendors to ensure all details in tech packs and sketches are respected.
• Partner with Designers to understand product intent and aesthetics ensuring translation into proto samples.
• Develop products and propose appropriate materials and construction methods that align with the design vision, while engineering the product to meet predefined gross margin and FOB targets; from initial pre-cost estimates to final costing.
• Attend sample review meetings with assistance of Fit Technicians, key Designers and Sourcing Partners.
• Create the specifications for the products, publish, and maintain all records and samples associated with the product and related programs.
• Ensure both the technical superiority and the product quality/integrity of all products falling under you responsibility.
• Identify and assist in the development of department guidelines and standards to ensure operational excellence and consistency across teams.
• Perform these and other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.

What you’ll bring

Education:

• College degree in Fashion Design or superior.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years working for a fashion design company within the development/production department.
• Proven experience collaborating with overseas vendors.
• Strong time management, scheduling, and organizational skills.
• Solid understanding of garment construction and production processes.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with PLM systems (an asset).
