A DSW provides compassionate and heartfelt personal care services to clients and assists clients with the activities of daily living while maintaining autonomy.

Salary: From $21.50 per hour
✓ Provide personal care service according to direction of the established care plan and ensure to continuously monitor the emotional, spiritual, functional, and physical comfort and safety of our clients
✓ Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker: Duties may include skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning and movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding including special diets, assistance with oxygen administration and medication reminder
✓ Provide personal services support to clients with special needs
✓ Assess clients’ relevant skill strengths and development needs
✓ Implement behaviour management programs
✓ Understands and implements infection prevention practices
✓ Adhere to Canadian Shield Health Care Services Policies and Procedures
✓ Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Canadian Shield Health Care Services personnel
✓ Development Services Worker (DSW) diploma from a recognized Board of Education or Community College
✓ Membership with the Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities (OADD) is an asset
✓ The DSW must have a solid knowledge of how to effectively provide care for people with developmental disabilities including seniors and/or children
✓ Current CPR certificate
✓ Criminal Record Check
✓ Access to a reliable vehicle with valid driver’s license
✓ Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
✓ Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and reach freely and able to freely lift 23 kg
✓ Able to travel locally from assignment to assignment
✓ Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written in English
✓ Ability to communicate both verbally and written in French is an asset
