Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care - London, ON

Salary Range: $32.18 - $35.56 /hour

Parkwood Institute, Mental Health is an organization that provides specialized mental health care to individuals living with mental illnesses on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Our work is guided by a recovery-oriented philosophy of care and the use of evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation interventions to help individuals pursue their life goals. We support individuals and their families throughout their recovery journey.

The successful candidate will provide care and support to adults aged 18 to 65 with a dual diagnosis (intellectual disability and mental health needs or behavioral challenges). Using a behavioral model, the Developmental Service Worker will collaborate with Advanced Behaviour Analysts to implement and monitor behavior support plans, collect behavior data, and provide feedback to the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Qualifications

  • Developmental Service Worker Diploma
  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a team
  • Ability to work independently with clients
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to form therapeutic relationships
  • Strong written documentation skills
  • Flexibility and organizational skills
  • Ability to recognize and respond to abnormal behavior indicating emotional or psychiatric changes
  • Physical ability to meet job demands and apply body mechanics
  • Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis principles
  • Understanding of Safety Culture in Healthcare and OHSA compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French
  • Two years of experience with individuals with dual diagnosis
  • Valid First Aid Certificate

Teaching and Research

  • Engagement in role-related teaching and research activities is expected as part of employment at St. Joseph's Health Care London, in affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College.

Immunization Requirements

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, and influenza.
  • Documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing is required.
