How you will make a difference:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Fundable Opportunities and Impact the Development Writer will create and enhance donor-centered communications tools to support UWGT’s fundraising efforts. These include customized funding proposals and impact reports for individuals, corporations, and other significant donors as well as fundraising resources that will motivate existing donors and engage new ones to support UWGT.
- Work across the organization to develop cultivation and stewardship materials in support of UWGT’s mission priorities including funding proposals, applications, and impact reports for major donors, foundations, and corporate partners
- Collaborate with teams across UWGT to create proposal and stewardship work plans in support of excellent donor experiences
- Develop resources and materials to support individual and corporate fundraisers, including gift proposals, report templates, and matching gift reports, while writing and creating persuasive collateral that is responsive to the needs and interests of donors and prospects.
- Complete grant applications and subsequent stewardship collateral and reports for donors
- Work with the Marketing team to produce broad-based stewardship collateral
- Edit collateral content from external writers and internal staff from other teams
- Liaise with staff across the organization to support stewardship activity, including fundraising, finance, community investment, operations, and strategy teams
- Review program monitoring, reporting, and measurement and evaluation practices and apply these approaches to donor solicitations and stewardship
- Develop and maintain an accessible online file of past proposals, impact reports, cases for support, one-pagers, and other donor communications and collateral
- Oversee and maintain the team proposal and report tracker, ensuring the timely development and delivery of solicitations and impact reports
- Support the Marketing and Communications teams, and other departments across UWGT, through leading and contributing to other projects as required
What you bring to the role:
- More than 3 years and up to 5 years of experience in grant and proposal writing, marketing, fundraising, and/or
- Superior initiative, problem solving and project management skills
- Willingness to actively support the implementation of UWGT’s Reconciliation and Equity Action Plan, and translate anti-oppressive, anti-racist learning into action internally and externally
- Collaborative approach to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
- Superior ability to communicate effectively for external parties not familiar with social services sector
- Impeccable organizational and time management skills and keen attention to detail
- Established design skills with experience creating materials using software including InDesign, PowerPoint, and Canva considered an asset
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with diverse sets of people
- Ability to work outside of regular work hours as required
