Development Technician - 12 month term (1 of 2)

Position Overview

BWXT Medical Ltd. specializes in the development, manufacturing, packaging, and delivery of medical isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals, supporting life-saving medical procedures worldwide. Based in Kanata, Ontario, and Vancouver, BC, we employ over 300 skilled professionals. We are seeking a Development Technician (1 of 2) for a 12-month term at our Kanata facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and project activities related to research and development.
  • Assemble equipment, conduct tests and experiments, and assist in commissioning new processes, products, and facilities.
  • Develop chemical systems, instrumentation, and process methods in line with cGMP standards.
  • Collaborate with science specialists on design completion and source, assemble, and test chemical processing equipment.
  • Gather data through experiments, analyze results, and prepare reports.
  • Provide technical support and advice as needed.

Qualifications

  • Technologist diploma (3-year) with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation and interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications.

Additional Assets

  • Experience with chemical system optimization, radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, and specific equipment like Indium-111 Oxine or TheraSphere.
  • Familiarity with analytical laboratory and nuclear medicine equipment, CFR part 11 compliant electronic systems, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of GMP practices, robotics, and automation, and proficiency with spreadsheets.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity, ability to lift and push weights, and work with arms / hands frequently.
  • Successful completion of medical, vision, and hearing assessments required.

Compensation

The salary range is approximately $68,871 to $86,290 annually, based on experience and market factors, with potential additional benefits and incentives.
