Work Location: Red Lake (underground mine setting, 14/14 rotation, fly in fly out)

The Development Miner’s duties include field support, drilling and blasting as well as work associated with drift development. The incumbent will operate hand-held pneumatic drills for the purpose of installing ground support. Occasionally, the development miner will operate heavy equipment such as scoop trams and service vehicles.

The following is a list of duties relating to this position.These may be adjusted by your supervisor when required by the project. Your safety will always be our priority with all assigned tasks:

Key Responsibilities

· Follow all established policies, procedures, and best practices as well as industry specific regulations

· Always be physically and mentally fit for work

· Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings

· Drill holes using hand-held pneumatic drills

· Insert rock bolt following approved method of installation

· Install other ground support components as required such as welded wire mesh and shotcrete

· Install or fix existing mine services such as vent tubing and pipes using various lifting equipment such as scissor trucks chain blocks and hand tools

· Follow directives from shift supervisors to coordinate day to day ground control requirements

· Assess all excavations and install ground support in development or reconditioned areas as per plan and section as the development progresses

· Keep track of all advances and communicate to supervisors and cross shifts footages and volumes

Qualifications and Skills

· Minimum Education:Common core completion as well as related MTCU modules

· Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience as an underground development miner.

· Ability to understand and follow instructions

· Experience working in an underground mine

· Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team

Work location is the Greater Sudbury Basin, Ontario. Schedule will include shift work, overtime, and weekend work.
