Overview
A dynamic, fast-paced leadership role for an experienced development professional who will both manage and mentor a small team of three engineers and act as a hands-on product manager. You’ll own end-to-end delivery—from scoping and prioritizing AI-powered features and integrations through rapid POCs/MVPs to production roll-out—while collaborating closely with the Director of IT, the CCIO, and cross-functional stakeholders. Success means delivering a steady cadence of high-impact projects using Next.js, Azure, Terraform, GitHub, and OpenAI (or equivalent technologies), and continuously improving both team processes and product outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Help the company look around the corner with AI, using emerging technologies to identify strategic opportunities and inform long-term planning.
- Oversee product development and key business initiatives, coordinating tasks and liaising with stakeholders to ensure clarity on roles and objectives.
- Scope projects, including assessing deliverables, timelines, budgets, and maintaining project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
- Foster strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and senior leadership to manage expectations, identify risks, and keep projects on track.
- Plan and control development processes, establishing clear workflows and iterating based on feedback to maximize efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, conducting code reviews, guiding architectural decisions, and promoting best practices.
- Define and evolve the technical roadmap & architecture, translating business objectives into clear requirements and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate AI capabilities (e.g., OpenAI APIs) and cloud services (e.g., Azure) into innovative solutions.
- Manage, mentor and conduct code reviews for a team of three software engineers to foster engineering excellence.
- Drive measurable short-term ROI on every initiative—targeting at least a 1× return within the first year.
- Oversee full SDLC and rapid POCs/MVPs for AI-powered features and integrations, ensuring architecture, testing and CI/CD best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in software development or product management, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or product owner role.
- Technical Skills: Proven full-stack development background (Next.js or equivalent), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Product Management: Demonstrated ability to define strategy, create roadmaps, and prioritize features based on business value.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong mentorship, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Process Excellence: Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, and fast iteration of POCs/MVPs.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Familiarity with OpenAI integrations or other AI/ML toolkits.
- Background in healthcare or regulated industries, understanding of compliance requirements.
- Certifications cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Administrator).
