Development Engineer II - CONTRACTOR

This role requires technical experience related to building cutting-edge products and development projects. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with the manufacturing industry as well as high-technology products with LG and customers. The role involves developing projects, deeply involving technical requirements, resolving issues, and managing communication with customers and tier companies to ensure strength and innovation in LG's automotive business. The position directly influences project development across LG and automotive manufacturers, requiring confidence in problem identification, communication, and driving solutions to deliver high-quality development within deadlines, building trust through excellent feature implementation and problem resolution. A humble service mindset and results-driven attitude are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolving software and hardware issues and communicating with customers to handle these issues.
  • Managing OEM customer design requests, developing APQP, and coordinating third-party solutions.
  • Identifying and managing feature issues, publishing weekly reports.
  • Supporting cross-functional teams including validation, manufacturing, sales, and quality, as well as customers.
  • Communicating with LG HQ cross-functional teams, including program management.
  • Supporting multiple teams such as program management, validation, and quality.
  • Releasing weekly development progress reports and coordinating with customer engineers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 2+ years or equivalent experience in automotive component development or testing.
  • Prior experience with vehicle infotainment features, telematics, and vehicle interface technology products.
  • Software development skills (C, C++, QNX, Linux, XML, HMI, CAN network, embedded systems).
  • Hardware development skills (schematic design, PCB layout, circuit analysis).
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines including SiriusXM, Carplay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, WiFi, audio control, RF, OTA, VIF, CPU/Micom, network, hardware, testing.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Passion for technology and problem-solving.

Travel/Physical Requirements:

  • Up to 40% travel, including out-of-state and international.
  • Use of X-ray equipment and environmental chambers.
  • Ability to sit/drive/test in a vehicle up to 8 hours a day, up to 4 hours at a stretch.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Interact with display/center controller/steering wheel during testing or driving.

Preferred:

  • Experience with vehicle infotainment, telematics, and vehicle interface technology.
  • Experience with complex systems.
  • IATF 16949 and APQP/FMEA certifications.
  • Bilingual in Korean and English.
