Job Summary:
The Community Development Coordinator is the first point of contact for student nutrition programs. This position works diligently with schools to ensure the smooth operation of their student nutrition programs. It also collaborates with local partnerships to develop and strengthen relations with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct formal program assessments and support local student nutrition programs.
- Coordinate the annual grant application process.
- Facilitate implementation of Ministry Program Guidelines and best practice standards.
- Establish support strategies for programs not meeting key quality standards.
- Develop and coordinate program training workshops for staff and volunteers.
- Assist in securing additional funding/grant opportunities.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders and community partners.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and recognition.
- Prepare and submit data and reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure provision of cost-effective client services and programs.
- Assess client service needs, monitor delivery, and contribute to program development, evaluation, and promotion.
- Develop and implement program plans to meet departmental needs.
- Manage volunteers and staff, leading volunteer orientation, training, and in-services within VON Quality Management standards.
- Maintain engagement with clients and health partners to meet community needs.
- Serve as primary support contact among clients, health professionals, community support, and team members.
- Track and report on program and team efforts to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Support financial accountability by maintaining program budgets.
- Create and prepare financial and statistical reports for VON obligations and program analysis.
- Complete Disaster and Emergency Drills as per VON policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings as required.
- Practice according to VON quality and risk management frameworks and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Participate in health and safety training, including WHMIS, and apply this knowledge.
- Report workplace incidents promptly in line with legislation and policies.
External and Internal Relationships:
- Communicate timely with clients and community partners/professionals.

Education, Designations, and Experience:
- Experience in non-profit coordination/management.
- Experience with fundraising and building relationships.
- Post-secondary diploma in Health/Social Science or equivalent.
- 2-3 years in community and health-based care.
- 1-2 years in program planning and evaluation (asset).
- Experience in volunteer administration (asset).
- Understanding of not-for-profit healthcare environment (asset).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role requires attention to detail in a dynamic environment, with physical activities including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and kneeling. The role involves walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
