Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to develop and grow your fundraising skills? Do you possess fundraising expertise and excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships and partnerships? If so, consider this opportunity to work as a Development Associate, Campaign at the Ontario Science Centre.

The Development Associate, Campaign will support the Head, Campaign and Director, Development in campaign priorities to support the new building and ongoing programming offered by the Ontario Science Centre.

What can I expect to do in this role?

The position will be responsible for generating philanthropic revenue by initiating, developing, and nurturing relationships with current and prospective donors. Duties include:

  1. Works with the Head, Campaign to support prospect strategy development for gifts at all levels, including research profiles, briefing notes, and other materials to support major gift activity.
  2. Plans and coordinates mid-level giving program for the Ontario Science Centre, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level donors.
  3. Develops and executes process to identify potential new major gift donors from internal and external sources.
  4. Supports the Head, Campaign with the administration of the Ontario Science Centre's planned giving program, including the stewardship of planned gift donors.
  5. Works collaboratively across the organization and champions the role of philanthropy at the Ontario Science Centre.
How do I qualify?
Fundraising Knowledge and Experience

You have:

  • Previous experience working on a major fundraising campaign and demonstrated major gift, individual and community giving experience.
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity to identify and develop gift opportunities linked to organizational priorities.
  • Experience with engaging new prospects through independent research, prospect identification, and personal engagement.
  • Knowledge of standards and practices in major gift, individual and community fundraising.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundraising research, cultivation, and engagement principles.
Relationship Management and Communication Skills

You have:

  • Exceptional written skills and attention to detail to create compelling communications.
  • Superior presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Collaboration and consultation skills to promote cooperation and exceptional customer service.
Donor Relations and Program Leadership Skills

You have:

  • Ability to research and develop stewardship plans to cultivate new and nurture existing supporters.
  • Experience in determining processes and systems needed to operate effective Major Gift programs.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to provide evaluation of activities and results.
