Title: Development Associate

Position Overview:
The Development Associate will work closely with the Development team to ensure that the funding needs of the agency are met and sustained to achieve Almost Home’s mission. This position is responsible for coordinating and providing administrative support for all aspects of the agency’s fundraising, marketing and communication, donor relations, direct mail appeals, special events and volunteerism.
Core Functions
- Fund Development
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Create monthly fundraising reports and dashboards.
- Send appropriate documentation to process credits to donors.
- Manage relationships on the database and communicate accordingly with Executive Director, Development Director and Fund Development Committee
- Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual digital donor files on the CRM database, web and manual platforms
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors
- Reconcile donations for Chief Financial Officer or Finance contractor monthly
- Coordinate productions and mailing of appeal letters.
- Under direction of Director of Development, coordinate and implement annual fundraising plan
Events and Volunteers
- Maintain guest lists, gather, and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for fundraising events.
- Collect and track volunteer hours.
- Organize volunteer events.
- Prospect and procure raffle donations for the annual event.
- Conducts facility tours for various constituents as needed.
- Maintain and coordinates agency volunteerism that supports the agency’s achievement of its strategic goals and priorities.
- In coordination with Marketing Contractor, assist with social media posting and maintenance of agency’s website, including making updates timely.
- Assists Director of Development with planning, coordinating and executing all special events
- Coordinate and order supplies for member and children birthday parties
Communications
- Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
- Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Provide support for and oversee accurate data entry in the Salesforce database, with a special emphasis on extracting and analyzing data as well as maintaining constituent records.
- Provides technical support to all staff for using the Salesforce database based on best practices.
- Maintains inventory of all agency collateral (annual reports, brochures, invitations, and flyers)
- Coordinates printing and distribution of fundraising and marketing pieces
- Assists in the implementation of marketing and communications plans.
- Participates in implementation of media relations strategy and outreach in the St. Louis area.
- Accurate record keeping
- Overseeing and ensuring timely delivery of Maternal Health Tax Credit process and documentation
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
Possible performance measures:
- Number of donations processed and acknowledged within 24 to 48 hours.
- Success in maintaining accuracy of database records.
- Accuracy and completion of fundraising reports and dashboards
- Success in coordinating the production of direct mail appeals.
- Success in maintaining donor hard copy files.

Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
- At least 2-3 years’ experience working with a non-profit
- First rate technology and social media skills to include: Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and WordPress (preferred), Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Persuasive written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills—including comfortable speaking to groups.
- Experience preferred in creating and editing videos with voice, text, illustrations, and digital images.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to inspire confidence in colleagues, donors, grantors, Board and staff.
- Detail oriented with respect to proofing and editing all content and collateral. Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Belief in team approach and proactive in sharing information with others.
- High level of organization, self-starter initiative, data and deadline driven, attention to detail, time management skills and follow-through.
- Able to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in grant writing, marketing and planning special events.
- Experience in management of donor software; agency uses Salesforce.

- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting to 40 pounds.

- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and adaptable to change.
- Monday -Friday 8am-4pm. Occasionally work evenings and weekends when necessary for special events, community engagement and volunteer management.
