Job description

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada. Hours: 37.5 per week. Line of Business: TD Wealth. Pay range: $50,000–$100,000 CAD base plus commission.

About the Role

We are hiring Developing Investment Advisors into our Developing Investment Advisor Program. This program offers enhanced coaching and training to build comprehensive knowledge in technical, financial, and interpersonal areas, enabling participants to accelerate their path to building a successful client portfolio for high‑net‑worth clients.

Accountabilities
  • Build a client base of high-net‑worth and ultra‑high-net-worth clients, families, and business owners.
  • Develop comprehensive wealth management and investment strategies for clients based on their needs.
  • Make recommendations to clients regarding portfolio construction, security selection, monitoring, and rebalancing.
  • Execute a business plan focused on building client base and market share through prospecting, marketing, and developing a pipeline that identifies and cultivates relationships with potential clients and external referral sources.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to proactively attract, acquire, and retain customers and referrals, increasing profitability and enabling business growth.
  • Apply a OneTD approach by establishing beneficial relationships between clients and TD partners to provide goal‑based wealth advice across a full range of product and service solutions.
  • Protect the interests of the organization by identifying and managing risks effectively.
What your profile looks like
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics, or related discipline.
  • Registered Representative licensed with CIRO.
  • Professional designations such as CFP, CIM, and/or CFA are considered assets.
  • 3+ years of experience in a client‑facing, sales, or relationship‑focused role, ideally in a mutual fund or brokerage environment.
  • Deep knowledge of the investment landscape, markets, and portfolio management.
  • Curiosity and desire to stay on top of the latest trends; ability to be a thought leader in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven entrepreneurial experience and ability to prospect and manage client relationships.
  • Comfort with compliance requirements and commitment to ethical client service.
  • Life Insurance License (LLQP) to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Additional Information

This role is also open to candidates in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
