A financial consulting firm in Toronto is looking for a consultant with extensive experience in FX products and risk management systems. The role involves maintaining the FX platform, understanding regulatory requirements, and ensuring quality in deliverables. Candidates should have at least 10 years in the field, including experience with Unix and SQL. This is a 6-month contract position offering opportunities for professional development in a dynamic environment.
• Business group: GBME – Commodities, FX Options & Derivatives Technology – Provides foreign exchange products and services to retail, commercial, institutional and corporate clients.
• Project: CBPS – Cross-border payments strategy – Electronic foreign exchange and payments upgrade initiative.
• The consultant is guided by Bank policy and receives close supervision from both the Director and Senior Manager, and general direction from individual project managers. Within a generally defined task, the incumbent is expected to function independently while ensuring that management is kept informed and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately.

• Participates in the support of the production and maintenance of the FX platform
• Participate in all aspects of a systems development life cycle within the development team (Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Test, QA, Data Lineage, Implementation and Support).Act as a liaison and primary communication channel between appropriate business line and development teams on requirements, issue resolution, status, project execution and prioritization.
• Accountable for understanding all stakeholder needs, providing detailed product design specification by way of user stories and assisting in the prioritising of stories during Sprint planning.
• Turn business requirements into technical specifications and other technical documentation (data transformations, design and operational support documentation).
• Knowledge of bank’s products (i.e. capital markets and retail) and operational process and controls. Specifically of FX trades and products within eFX, such a FX Spot, Forwards, Swaps, and NDFs.
• Fluent in Agile techniques and demonstrated experience in working within an agile environment, either as a product owner or as a team member.
• The following eFX specific knowledge would be highly desired:
o Understanding of the FX trade life cycle
o Understanding of FX Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs along with how they are priced and routed to WSS
o Understanding of FIX protocol
o Experience testing maker and taker sessions, such as liquidity providers and multibank portals. In addition, understanding their FIX spec would be an added benefit
o Unix and SQL skills to triage issues within the eFX applications
o Understanding the difference between RFS, ESP and Orders
o High level regulatory knowledge within the FX space, such as regulatory requirements pertaining to MIFIDII
o Apply a variety of analysis tools to interpret data and identify patterns.
• Specifically within:
o Maintain a high level of quality in the deliverables to the eFX business.
o Continuously automate process to gain efficiency and velocity.
o Continuously contribute to the knowledge management of the team (new processes, functions and technologies).
• 10 + years of experience working with financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, and risk management methodologies and models including best practices, current and anticipated regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and the end-to-end workflows among the Front, Middle, and Back Offices, within at least one financial market area, and a basic knowledge of at least one other financial market area.
• 10+ years of experience working with Institutional trading and risk management with FX Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs along with how they are priced and routed to WSS.
• 10 years of experience understanding FX trade life cycle and a high level of regulatory knowledge within the FX space, such as regulatory requirements pertaining
• The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of experience working with Unix and SQL, with proven ability to triage and resolve issues within eFX applications. A solid understanding of the FIX protocol is essential, along with familiarity with different FX execution methods, including Request for Stream (RFS), Executable Streaming Prices (ESP), and Orders.
• Experience in testing both maker and taker sessions such as those involving liquidity providers and multibank portals, is required. Experience testing maker and taker sessions, such as liquidity providers and multibank portals. In addition, understanding their FIX spec would be an added benefit
• Previous experience in Data analytics working with Python, KDB +, and Kubernetes
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage with non-technical SMEs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• The incumbent must be a creative, self-starting, results-oriented, and highly motivated individual with good analytical skills in order to apply this knowledge to assist in the resolution of complex business problems.
• Further, the incumbent must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, and exercise diplomacy and judgement, to effectively work with end users and members of a project team.
• A recognized undergraduate degree in business, econometrics, mathematics, or a related discipline, along with 3-5 years of practical experience, is required.
• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with FX products, risk management systems, and trading platforms. In contrast, an average candidate may have exposure to only one of these areas or possess more theoretical knowledge without direct, practical application or experience with Small, retail, and commercial clients only.
• 2 rounds – MS Teams Video Interviews –going through experience, testing language skills, and there may be a reference check:
o 1st – with Hiring manager – 30 – 45 minutes
o 2nd – with HM, Director, and trading desk person – 30-45 minutes
