Job summary

Glacier FarmMedia is seeking a full stack developer to join our cross-functional team in Canada. You will own both backend (Laravel/PHP/Vue) and frontend (JS/CSS/HTML) tasks, ensure robust search with ElasticSearch, and contribute to CI/CD and deployment.

You will collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to create engaging online experiences for farmers and equipment buyers, while upholding UX, accessibility, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing scalable web applications.
• Solid understanding of HTTP, CSS and RESTful services.
• Experience with search engines such as Elastic, Amazon CloudSearch, etc.
• Using Lambda/Serverless in Node/Python, with API Gateway or similar tech.
• Git with rebasing, squashing, cherry-picking and PR reviews.
• UX, design, accessibility and user experience knowledge.
• Experience in Agile/Sprint/Kanban (JIRA).
• Able to plan and estimate projects/tasks.

Glacier FarmMedia ("GFM") is a dynamic company in the Canadian agriculture industry that connects with farmers through a variety of regional and specialty media franchises, a listings marketplace for the sale of farm equipment, leading industry events like Ag in Motion and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and customized offerings for Weather and Market analysis and insights.

This role is an individual contributor who is part of a collaborative, cross-functional team. Reporting directly to the Development Manager, we are looking for a “full stack” developer who can handle both backend (Laravel/PHP/Vue) and frontend (JS/CSS/HTML) development tasks, along with associated activities such as managing version control, code reviews, data migration, CI/CD and deployment, and whatever else comes along. You will work closely with our development lead to architect new online experiences, experiment, and collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to create the leading destination for farmers in search of farm equipment, AgDealer.com.

Duties and responsibilities

• Experiment and iterate with existing web experiences

Qualifications

• Equivalent skills in a different language or similar framework etc. will also be considered.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing scalable web applications.
• Solid understanding of web technologies including HTTP, CSS and RESTful services
• Experience working with search engines such as Elastic, Amazon CloudSearch, etc.
• Using Lambda/Serverless in Node/Python, along with API Gateway or similar tech
• Strong understanding and experience in Git (including rebasing, squashing, cherry-picking, etc.), branching strategies, and PR reviews.
• Strong understanding of UX and design principles, accessibility, and user experience
• Experience working in an “Agile/Sprint/Kanban” project management system such as JIRA.
• Ability to accurately plan and estimate projects/tasks.

Working Conditions

This is a position that is exempt from claiming overtime. The role is trusted with substantial control over their hours to generate the results required by this job description. This role is expected to work the hours necessary to achieve the results compensated for by the annual salary.
