Position: Senior Linux System Engineer
Location: Northern VA / On-site
Clearance Required: TS/SCI
Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000
Responsibilities:
- Assist team members with technical tasks, training, and onboarding.
- Identify, triage, and resolve technical issues and requests.
- Populate engineering backlog with known work requests and bugs.
- Prioritize, delegate, and clarify work assignments.
- Communicate technical considerations to external partners.
- Coordinate with IA and security teams for software versioning, scanning, patching, and compliance with ATO standards.
- Configure, implement, and deploy Linux systems in cloud environments.
- Monitor system health and ensure resource integrity and accessibility.
- Install, patch, upgrade, and maintain hardware and software.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, containers, and security measures.
- Ensure high availability and performance of systems and services.
- Perform hardware upgrades, performance tuning, and resource optimization.
- Design cloud-agnostic infrastructure solutions with microservices or traditional patterns.
- Manage backups, data migrations, documentation, and change requests.
- Install, configure, and maintain RHEL systems.
- Automate tasks and document configurations and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues.
- Implement security measures and ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- Top Secret/SCI clearance with IAT Level II certification.
- Proven experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet).
- Understanding of networking protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE) are preferred; RHCSE is a plus.
