Job summary

A not-for-profit security company is seeking a Detention Guard to monitor the safety and well-being of persons in custody at the Port Hardy RCMP Detachment. Responsibilities include observing prisoners, organizing meals, and maintaining cellblock security. Ideal candidates should have valid Occupational First Aid certification and the ability to remain discreet and professional under pressure. Qualifications

• Valid Occupational First Aid level 1 certification required.
• Able to obtain RCMP Reliability and Public Works Reliability Clearance.
• Vision standards comply with RCMP requirements.
• Mobility to manipulate/lift up to 20 kilograms.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the safety and well-being of persons in custody.
• Record and report any damages or repairs to cells.
• Dispense approved prescription medications under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness of cells and monitor fire safety.

Skills

Valid Occupational First Aid level 1

Ability to read, write, and speak in English

Basic level computer skills

Ability to work independently

Ability to remain in control under trying conditions
