A community policing service is seeking an On-Call Detention Guard/Matron in Wikwemikong for safeguarding individuals in custody. Responsibilities include monitoring prisoners, ensuring their security and well-being, and assisting police officers as needed. Candidates must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, a valid Class G Driver License, and current First Aid/CPR certification. Knowledge of First Nation culture and the Anishinaabemowin language is an asset. This position may include ongoing training and varying work hours.
Location: Wikwemikong Unceded Territory
Responsible to: Chief of Police, Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service
Hourly Rate: $29.43
The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service is accepting applications from all suitable and qualified candidates to apply for the position of On-Call Guard/Matron.
As a WTPS Detention Guard, you will be monitoring and safeguarding persons in custody, documenting prisoner movement/activities, as per WTPS policy guidelines. Physical handling of prisoners is not a job requirement. Any movement/transfer of prisoners will be conducted by the WTPS.
