CIBC is seeking a Detection Engineer for its Cyber Operations team in Toronto. You will design, build, and support threat detection content, using MITRE ATT&CK to alert the Security Operations team to cyber threats within the CIBC environment.

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Cyber Operations (CO) team as a Detection Engineer. As a Detection Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and supporting threat detection content designed to alert the Security Operations team to Cyber Threats within the CIBC environment. You’ll leverage the MITRE ATT&CK framework and cyber kill-chain knowledge to build detections that will help to disrupt threat actors from achieving their goals. You’ll also work closely with other groups, such as Threat Hunting, Cyber Risk Management, DLP, SOC, Vulnerability Management, the Red Team, and Incident Response to ensure that important context is captured in order to enrich not just the detections you’ll build, but the others’ processes and outcomes as well. You and the team will work together using Agile principles, 2 week sprints, and a scrum development framework. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

You have at least five years of experience as an Information Security Consultant or a similar role. You’re a certified professional. It’s an asset if you have your CISSP, CRISC, or CISM designation. An annual criminal record check may also be required.
