The Independent Adjuster actively adjusts claims while ensuring that business development opportunities are maximized. This involves marketing and follow-up of opportunities in a timely manner. The duties involve managing a dynamic portfolio that requires well-honed organizational skills to complete daily activities efficiently while progressing file management activities.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should have experience in Personal and/or Commercial lines Auto Property Damage (PD). Some personal Property Claims experience will be considered an asset, along with the following competencies:

Qualifications & Experience

University degree or post-secondary education related to insurance.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience.
  • Equivalency in education and experience will be considered.
  • Ongoing commitment to education and learning.
  • Effective analytical skills, including cause and effect analysis.
  • Good investigative manner.
  • Ability to draw valid conclusions and communicate them effectively.
  • Ability to interpret complex legal documents and perform advanced numerical calculations, including comparative analysis.
  • Adjuster’s license, or currently pursuing or have completed the CIP designation.
  • Advanced communication skills, including:
  • Effective written skills, including technical writing.
  • Effective oral skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating; ability to adapt style to audience.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Proactive and positive customer service approach, ensuring inquiries are handled promptly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with conflict and difficult situations.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing education and learning.
