Job summary

AECON is seeking a Senior Project Designer to join their Utility Engineering team in Toronto. The role involves ensuring design compliance for utility projects, conducting inspections, and preparing detailed technical reports. Qualifications

• 8 years experience designing and drafting OH & UG electrical distribution systems.
• Registration with the P.E.O or CET is an asset.
• Experience in engineering consulting & program management considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Complete design drawings and calculations meeting code requirements.
• Conduct predesign inspections and worksite visits.
• Prepare technical and status reports for design projects.

What is the Opportunity

• This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects. Aecon Utilities is ready to become Canadas #1 utility construction provider and were looking for a Senior Project Designer within our Aecon Utility Engineering team to help us get there!

Reporting to the Project Manager the Senior Project Designer will be responsible for all facets of design for our existing and perspective Utility clients.

What Youll Do Here :

Complete design drawings and calculations that satisfy all the applicable code and regulation requirements (ESA OESC CSA REG 22 / 04 Etc.

The preparation of design schedules material / labor estimates permit applications and construction packages

Conduct predesign inspections worksite visits and construction support

Preparation of reports regarding the status and results of completed and inprogress design projects

Prepare technical reports as required by the client and project team

Utilize various utility design software and tools

Support in the preparation of RFP submissions

Strong presentation skills both written and oral are considered a requirement

Able to mentor and lead junior team members and preform design quality control

Aid in the development of design processes.

Establish and build relationships with key clients and stakeholders

Performs other duties as required

What You Bring to the Team :

Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or College Diploma

8 years experience designing and drafting OH & UG electrical distribution systems

Registration as with the P.E.O or CET is considered an asset

Experience in engineering consulting & program management are considered assets

Stations and Streetlighting design experience are considered assets

Strong computer skills required experience with AutoCAD software Bentley MicroStation / ProjectWise SAP SpidaCalc AGi32 streetlighting software and 3D software experience is considered an asset

Proven people and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals

Ability to travel for projects (Valid G drivers license and access to a vehicle is required)

Proven ability to take initiative and leadership

Strong problemsolving skills
