Faster. Smarter. Safer. This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects. Aecon Utilities aims to become Canada's #1 utility construction provider, and we're looking for a Senior Project Designer within our Aecon Utility Engineering team to help us get there!
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Project Designer will be responsible for all facets of design for our existing and prospective Utility clients.
What You'll Do Here :
- Complete design drawings and calculations that satisfy all applicable code and regulation requirements (ESA, OESC, CSA, REG 22 / 04, etc.)
- Prepare design schedules, material/labor estimates, permit applications, and construction packages
- Conduct pre-design inspections, worksite visits, and provide construction support
- Prepare reports on the status and results of completed and in-progress design projects
- Prepare technical reports as required by the client and project team
- Utilize various utility design software and tools
- Support in the preparation of RFP submissions
- Demonstrate strong presentation skills, both written and oral
- Mentor and lead junior team members, perform design quality control
- Aid in the development of design processes
- Establish and build relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- Perform other duties as required
What You Bring to the Team :
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or College Diploma
- 8+ years' experience designing and drafting OH & UG electrical distribution systems
- Registration with the P.E.O or CET is considered an asset
- Experience in engineering consulting & program management are considered assets
- Stations and Streetlighting design experience are considered assets
- Strong computer skills required – experience with AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation / ProjectWise, SAP, SpidaCalc, AGi32 streetlighting software, and 3-D software experience is considered an asset
- Proven interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to travel for projects (Valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle required)
- Proven ability to take initiative and demonstrate leadership
