White Ash Group has been engaged by a fully licensed Cannabis cultivation, processing, and consumer packaged goods company to recruit their next Marketing Assistant / Jr. Designer.
The company operates five lines of business servicing the domestic and global cannabis industry including: wholesale product distribution, a consumer brands portfolio, a medical marketplace, a full-service medical cannabis clinic, and a retail “farm-gate” store.
The Marketing Coordinator / Junior Designer will play a key role in supporting the marketing, trade marketing, and sales teams, while also assisting the in-house creative team with day-to-day design projects. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
This role is well suited for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment and possesses a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing coordination, design support, and sales enablement, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of brand and sales initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand positioning.
- Assist in coordinating retailer activations, promotional initiatives, and brand partnerships.
- Assist the sales team by ensuring they have the necessary sales and marketing assets to support key accounts.
- Coordinate the shipping of sales materials and promotional assets to sales representatives, retailers, and trade partners.
- Maintain product and sales asset documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for internal teams.
- Maintain and manage the marketing calendar, tracking key deadlines for product launches, trade promotions, and campaign rollouts.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure sales initiatives are executed efficiently and budgeting and print asset ordering is maintained.
Graphic Design Responsibilities (70%):
- Support the in-house creative team in designing a variety of marketing and sales materials, including:
- Product labels and packaging assets
- Sales and trade marketing materials (sell sheets, tent cards, product cards, retailer assets, in-store promotions)
- Digital and print marketing collateral
- Swag and merch design development
- In-house guides, sales presentations, and internal documents
- Resizing and adapting assets for various platforms (social media, web, print)
- Social media creative development across multiple brands
- Working closely with the Digital Specialist to design and develop trade and consumer emails across multiple brands.
- Maintain file organization across shared drives, ensuring all design assets are accurately named, stored, and easily accessible.
- Ensure all creative assets adhere to brand guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
- A highly organized and detail-oriented professional with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and the ability to manage shared drives, file naming conventions, and digital asset organization.
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment and embraces an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Passionate about branding, marketing, and design, with a strong interest in the Canadian cannabis industry.
- A strong problem solver who can take initiative and work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- An effective communicator with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- 1-3 years of experience in a marketing, design, or sales support role (experience in cannabis, CPG, or alcohol industries is an asset but not required).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) – experience creating and editing design assets is required.
- Experience working with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Basic photography skills is an asset but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail that prioritizes proof reading and document accuracy.
- Ability to coordinate the shipping and distribution of sales and marketing assets.
- Familiarity with Health Canada’s cannabis marketing regulations is an asset.
- A proactive, adaptable professional with a willingness to take ownership of projects and drive results.
