Job summary

Sulzer in Burnaby, BC, seeks a junior Designer I to assist in the design and order processing of centrifugal pumps and components within the Engineering Department. The role features exposure to design, CAD drafting, and coordination with suppliers, with potential for growth in a permanent position.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background with 1–2 years in a design/manufacturing environment, plus familiarity with SAP/Teamcenter and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or diploma in Mechanical Design Technology.
• 1–2 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP and Teamcenter is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and order processing of centrifugal pumps, components, and equipment.
• Prepare engineering drawings using CAD (Inventor, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Medusa).
• Provide engineering drawing control with Teamcenter.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials within SAP.
• Perform stress analysis as required.
• Coordinate with suppliers and other departments to clarify design requirements.
• Assign and check the work of others, and prepare design reports or notes.
• Handle special engineering tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Support and comply with the company-wide EHS Management System.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
