Why this role is important?

Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Store Concepts, the incumbent utilizes AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, Revit, and other computer resources to create, develop and prepare floor plans, fixture layouts, and support merchandising aspects for new, existing, and expanding retail stores.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Transcribes store layout information to create Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) store layouts and interior floor plans that adhere to established standards.
  • Reviews design requirements, offers recommendations, and provides layout designs to support special projects.
  • Liaises and coordinates with design and construction and other relevant departments, as required, to manage projects, make alterations as necessary, and achieve timelines as established in the Capital Plan.
  • Creates and maintains “As-Builts” for capital plan projects as well as existing stores.

  • This position requires a demonstrated level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload, and projects. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are required in dealing with colleagues in everyday working relationships.
  • Requires an understanding of inter-related work processes to be able to adapt to differing assignments.
  • Provides routine information to coordinate the assignments and work procedures of others.
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with clients and associates including senior management.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details. Makes sure work is done correctly and thoroughly - keeps accurate records.
  • Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
  • Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one-on-one or group situations, or over the telephone.
  • Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
  • Computer skills to produce effective drawings, develop conceptual store layouts, and prepare reports and presentations. Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, knowledge of Revit, and other relevant office software.
  • Knowledge of architectural design principles and procedures.

Education

Post-secondary education equivalent to a college diploma in Design or equivalent with additional courses in AutoCAD.
