Job description

At Merit Kitchens, the Designer – Sales Consultant is the first point of contact for retail and commercial clients, both in person and virtually, and is responsible for generating revenue through sales as a brand ambassador. You will consult with clients to identify their project scope and create functional designs using Merit cabinetry. Additionally, you will develop detailed plans, renderings, quotes, and contract paperwork for design projects.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with walk-in clients, homeowners, and builders to generate new business.
  • Consult with clients to understand project scope, style preferences, finishes, layout, and budget.
  • Create functional, innovative, and aesthetically pleasing designs using 20/20 design software.
  • Prepare accurate quotes, renderings, detailed plans, and contracts.
  • Present designs and quotes to clients.
  • Attend project site visits for measurements and installations.
  • Maintain CRM records and follow up on leads and opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Utilize effective communication and sales methodologies.
  • Build a network by attending industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Participate in product knowledge sessions with suppliers.
  • Ensure showroom is clean, stocked, and operational; assist with display updates if needed.
  • Resolve design and project-related issues professionally.
  • Comply with company policies and uphold core values, mission, and vision.
Candidate Requirements
  • At least 2 years of sales and business development experience in a related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and 20/20 design software or similar.
  • Knowledge of NKBA standards is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Team player with a customer-first attitude.
  • Quick learner, positive outlook, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.

  • Flexible with working hours, including weekends.
  • Own vehicle with a valid driver’s license; car allowance provided.
