Job summary

The City of Laval seeks a mapping and plans technician to create and update base and thematic maps, and to publish and disseminate them. You will also participate in updating databases and preparing related documents for distribution.

Ideal candidates hold a DEC in civil engineering or architecture, have at least 12 months in interior design, and possess strong AutoCAD skills with cost/material estimation experience, a valid driver’s license, and safety training for construction sites.

Qualifications

• Hold a college diploma (DEC) in civil engineering or architecture or equivalent experience.
• At least twelve (12) months of relevant experience in the role, particularly in interior design.
• Excellent command of AutoCAD software (to be assessed by a technical test).
• Experience in cost and material estimation (asset).
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
• Possess safety training for construction sites (OHS).

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, correction, and updating of plans, drawings, graphics, and other illustrations.
• Develop plans and other documents based on various information and edit them to scale using computer tools.
• Occasionally perform site surveys for maps or databases.
• Produce lists, reports, tables, diagrams, and other documents using office software.

The challenges that await you

You will create plans, drawings, graphics, and other visual representations, as well as various mapping-related tasks, such as creating and updating base maps and thematic maps, and ensuring their dissemination, particularly through publishing. You will also participate in updating databases.

Among other things, you will be called upon to:

• Participate in the design, correction, and updating of plans, drawings, graphics, and other illustrations;
• Develop plans and other documents based on various information collected in conventional or digital form and edit them to scale using computer tools or others;
• Occasionally perform necessary surveys on construction sites or project locations for the realization or updating of maps and plans or databases;
• Produce, using office software, lists, reports, tables, diagrams, and other documents.
