The Opportunity:
Design Technologist (Highways & Roads) to join our Highways and Roads Department located in British Columbia (Vancouver, Langley, Kamloops, Smithers). Reporting to the Senior Highways and Roads Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting engineering staff in the design and drafting of transportation projects (Highways, Roads, Bridges, Active Transportation Infrastructure, etc) and working alongside WSP's multi-disciplinary team to bring projects from conceptual through to detailed design and construction.

What you can expect to do here:
- Processing of project base map and survey information including setting up all project base map and creation of the existing ground DTM.
- Preparing preliminary and detailed design drawings including plans, profiles, typical cross-sections, geometrics, drainage and utilities.
- Attending project meetings and working closely with design engineers / project engineers / project managers / subconsultants.
- Ensuring highway and road designs and drawings incorporate all pertinent design features.
- Contribute to the cost-effective and timely production of engineering drawings.
- Transforming preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering plans and drawings using AutoCAD / Civil 3D platform.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Civil Engineering or Design and Drafting Technology/Technician diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of 3 years of highway and/or road engineering design and drafting experience.
- Registered or eligible for registration with ASTTBC.
- Working knowledge of transportation engineering principles and design standards.
- Proficient in the application of computer-aided design/drafting programs including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Proficient with MS Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
- Attention to detail and ability to generate high-quality deliverables.
- Ability to work both individually and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is considered an asset.
Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $61,600 - $84,700
