Job summary

LanceSoft in Windsor, Ontario seeks a Design Systems / Applications Engineer to serve as the interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, managing system interactions for EDM gearbox programs.

You will lead cross-functional reviews, coordinate CAE and DVP activities, and drive robust design controls, while aligning cost reduction efforts and ensuring timely lessons learned updates.

Qualifications

• Experience leading system-level design for driveline/gearbox projects.
• Strong collaboration with design release engineers and COEs.
• Ability to organize and drive design reviews and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware system design reviews across PRC and DRE partners.
• Manage DFMEA/DRBFM reviews to ensure cohesive design controls.
• Coordinate DRBTR reviews and track follow-up items.
• Oversee CQI and GIMS activities with cross-functional teams.
• Support cost reduction and value optimization efforts with multiple teams.
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and distributed to CE and TS teams.

Job Description

Lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, primarily responsible for managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the Driveline and EDM gearbox systems. Design Systems / Applications Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs.

Responsibilities include

• EDM Gearbox hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all EDM gearbox components)
• Interfacing with individual Design Release Engineers and COEs
• Schedules hardware system design reviews across PRC and reviews DRE design proposals as required
• Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders
• Manage Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions
• Supports CE & ACE to develop FTE and ER&R/ED&D Cost Roll
• Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and E
• BPs are updated and aligned.
• Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with PRC, DVC and VO teams

• Represents CE in managing the “lessons learned” document for the program and ensure that TS (Technical Specialist) receive those updates on a timely manner to update the E
• Reviews driveline system and applicable component “Validation Completion” status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE
• Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of “follow up items” and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems
• Manage CQI and GIMS cross functional task force teams working closely with ACE, create priorities, action plans and track progress, align and update initiatives list
