Hourly pay range: $35.00 - $39.00 / hr

Job Responsibilities

Your duties as a Design Systems - Application Engineer in Windsor, Ontario (Hybrid) will include:

  • On-site once a week, with travel once or twice a month to the USA for meetings.
  • Leading interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center, managing system interactions and interfaces of the EDM gearbox.
  • Reporting to the Chief Engineer across multiple programs.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for EDM Gearbox hardware system integration and balancing, interfacing with Design Release Engineers, COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Validation Centers.
  • Scheduling hardware system design reviews and reviewing DRE proposals.
  • Organizing reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE teams and ensuring completion of Virtual DVP / Scorecard prior to prototype hardware orders.
  • Managing Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM reviews to ensure transparency and cohesive Design Controls.
  • Supporting cost development and validation activities for programs.
  • Reviewing and approving change notices, updating checklists, LL, and E-BPs.
  • Leading Technical Cost Reductions and Value Optimization efforts.
  • Managing lessons learned documentation and ensuring updates are communicated.
  • Monitoring driveline system validation status and coordinating review meetings.
  • Managing cross-functional teams on CQI and GIMS initiatives, creating priorities, and tracking progress.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of EDM Gearboxes, Drivelines, Axles, or Transmission Systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and troubleshoot issues.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Up to 5 years of experience in driveline, axles, transmission, or powertrain systems engineering.
  • Experience with Gearbox, Driveline, or Axle Design Release.
  • Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent).
  • Leadership experience in managing small teams.
  • Knowledge of powertrain development processes and analysis tools.
  • Certifications like Green/Black belt in Shainin or DFSS are desirable.
  • Experience with electric motors for automotive applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to understand interdependent powertrain components.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
