Job summary

Teledyne Digital Imaging in Waterloo, Ontario, is hiring a Senior Design Specialist- Test to design, deploy, and maintain hardware and software test systems that evaluate product and component performance. This role collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and tech support to ensure test coverage, reliability, and scalability.

The position focuses on test infrastructure, automation, and transitioning new products from engineering to production, with opportunities to influence product

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field required.
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW, Python, SQL and MatLab required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, modify, and optimize test infrastructure for performance and reliability.
  • Create new test files and plans to cover gaps for new products.
  • Develop test setups for evolving product requirements and automation.
  • Analyze test results to identify trends and stability issues.
  • Deploy updated test files into manufacturing environments.
  • Create software tools to support other teams as needed.
  • Review product designs for test readiness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with technical support and assign tasks to ensure timely execution.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and new product enablement.

As part of our continuing growth in this high technology market, Teledyne Digital Imaging is recruiting for a Design Specialist- Test ( Senior) in Waterloo. The Design Specialist - Test is responsible for the design, performance, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of both hardware and software test systems used to evaluate product and component performance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality and manufacturability by developing robust test coverage, analyzing performance trends, and supporting the transition of new products from engineering into production. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, manufacturing, and technical support, the Design Specialist - Test integrates multiple tools, processes, and technologies to improve test effectiveness, reliability, and scalability.

What You Will Do
  • Design, modify, and enhance test infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, and coverage
  • Develop new test files and test plans to address gaps in test coverage and support new product introductions
  • Design and implement new test setups for evolving product requirements
  • Analyze test results to identify trends in product performance and test stability
  • Deploy new or updated test files into the manufacturing environment
  • Design and develop software tools to support other functional groups based on operational needs
  • Review new product designs for technical accuracy and test readiness
  • Assign tasks to technical support associates and monitor progress to ensure timely execution
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, technology advancement, and new product enablement
  • Support the transition of products from engineering to production, ensuring smooth handoff and manufacturability
What you need
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or PhD with no prior experience
  • Proficiency in required programming, automation and analysis tools: LabVIEW Python SQL MatLab
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of semiconductor image sensor technology
  • Past experience in testing of high performance camera systems
  • Past experience in automation of test systems
  • Past experience in working with subject matter experts to deliver highly integrated, production ready test systems
