The Wireless Core Team is responsible for end-to-end network architecture, development, and operations, including service orchestration and automation. We design, develop, maintain, and support the Wireless Core and Policy Network and its services.

Working as a team, we introduce cutting-edge technology and software to drive network orchestration and automation in the rapidly evolving 5G ecosystem, propelling TELUS’ digital transformation.

We create previously impossible solutions to deliver unique and rich wireless experiences for our customers. These innovative solutions revolutionize connectivity, enhance quality of life, and spark global innovation by enabling cellular networks and expanding access to the digital world.

You will play a pivotal role in redefining customer experiences by providing strategic guidance, managing change, and leveraging state-of-the-art security and AI to deliver reliable, cost-effective products.

What you’ll do

  • Lead architecture, design, and operational support for TELUS’ Wireless Policy Network (PCRF/PCF).
  • Design, deploy, integrate, and support scalable, high-availability, carrier-grade systems, focusing on performance and reliability, including Policy and Wireless Core Network functions such as PCRF/PCF, SMF/SPGW-C, AMF/MME/SGSN, UPF/SPGW-U/GGSN, NRF/NSSF.
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment, reducing time from development to production.
  • Manage Network Operations Center (NOC) tickets, troubleshoot issues, and conduct root-cause analyses.
  • Develop Methods of Procedure (MoP) documents for new functionalities, configurations, and break-fix scenarios.
  • Lead testing and validation in deployments following TELUS’ Change Management Process.
  • Collaborate on Wireless Policy Network projects with teams such as RAN, Wireless Core, Signaling, Virtualized Infrastructure, IMS/Voice, SDM/HSS/UDM, Charging, and Business Operations.
  • Participate in design, dimensioning, and roadmap discussions.
  • Manage the lifecycle of Wireless Policy Network products, including scaling, patching, upgrading, and maintenance.
  • Execute and assist with Proofs of Concept trials.
  • Contribute actively to Agile team discussions, sharing progress and providing input on design, development, projects, and operations.
  • Work with RedHat OpenShift and other infrastructure tools in a CaaS/PaaS model.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards for performance monitoring.
  • Automate health checks, maintenance, configuration changes, and operational tasks through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Analyze network performance, resolve complex issues, and optimize architecture.
  • Participate in incident handling, root cause analysis, and on-call rotation.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in 3G/4G/5G Wireless Core architecture, design, implementation, and operations.
  • Expertise in Policy and Charging Rule Function, Policy Enforcement, QoS, Network resource management, VOLTE, VoNR, EPS-Fallback, and Network slicing.
  • Hands-on experience with vendors like Cisco, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Affirmed.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA, LTE, HTTP/2, Diameter, Sigtran, SS7, REST/SOAP APIs, and 5G protocols.
  • Experience with protocol stacks such as Gx, Rx, Sy, N7, N28, N15, and SBI.
  • Proficiency in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and orchestration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with Wireshark and PCAP.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle and CI/CD tools (GitLab, Agile).
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools like Splunk, Netscout, Grafana, and Google Cloud Observability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.

Great-to-haves

  • Experience with Cloud Native Services (AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of Radio, Transport, Signaling, and Infrastructure product design, development, and testing.
  • Programming skills in Python, Ansible, or API development.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack).

Location: Any major Canadian city

Salary Range: $88,000-$132,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance, and experience. TELUS offers benefits such as:
