Your Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of transportation design build projects for large and mid-size construction. May manage technical employees, work planning, technical design management and oversight, project delivery, quality management, contract administration, change management, and risk management. This position can be based in any Canadian location.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business development.
  2. Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies.
  3. Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
  4. May manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
  6. Lead multi-disciplinary teams on major alternative project delivery (APD) projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services.
  7. Be the key person and point of contact, performing design, deputy design, or quality manager roles on major APD projects.
  8. Represent Stantec and the project design team as a technical leader on major APD projects.
  9. Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives. Manage contract tasks, track, and manage costs and schedule, and implement measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
  10. Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management.
  11. Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team.
  12. Develop Client relationships to facilitate project activities.
  13. Establish, maintain, and promote partnerships in project pursuits.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  1. Experience with APD projects across a region or nationally.
  2. Experience with the role of deputy design manager, design manager, and or quality manager on APD projects.
  3. Experience leading the design and construction support of complex transportation projects.
  4. Experience in the preparation of presentations utilizing PowerPoint.
  5. Experience developing, negotiating, and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  6. Business development and marketing skills experience required.
  7. Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environment.

Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering and project management experience on large transportation projects, including at least three APD projects.
  2. Completion of a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at an accredited institution.
  3. Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed or ability to get within 6 months, and the ability to get licensed in states as needed to support the assigned pursuit.
  4. PMP is preferred.
