Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Design Manager to join our team!

Position Overview:

Our Canadian design team is growing, and we are looking for a senior level Design Manager to be part of our team in Canada. This is a new addition to staff and is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design-Build professional that enjoys working on various Alternative Project Delivery projects (APD). The successful candidate will have experience working on major, significant APD projects in North America.

The Design Manager provides direction and management for large scale Design-Build projects and ensures on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. The Design Manager is responsible for the marketing and pursuit strategy, scope development, scope management and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives.

Additional Specific Responsibilities of the Design Manager:

  • Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution. Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors.
  • Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
  • Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project.
  • Mobilizes company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
  • Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
  • Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related) required
  • At least 15+ years of related work experience is required
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Experience as Lead Design Manager on Design-Build projects is required

Skills/Competencies:

Incumbent must meet Parsons’ project management certification requirements and possess a proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.

Minimum Clearance Required to Start:

Not Applicable/None. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
