Job description

Headquartered in North York, ON, with employees in Canada, the US, China and India, NewAge is an industry- leading manufacturer and distributor of premium home improvement solutions.

Our products are sold through major online retailers such as Lowes, The Home Depot, Costco, Amazon, and Wayfair as well as our own e-commerce site. But what makes us unique is that we provide a truly cohesive customer experience, from free expert assistance designing and planning new spaces to delivery and professional installation.

Our collaborative, inclusive team atmosphere nurtures personal growth, career advancement and job satisfaction, as evidenced by our certification as a Great Place to Work in Canada.

With tremendous pride, we continue to receive a growing number of industry accolades including over 75 unique product patents, awards for our team of expert designers, prominent ranking on the Profit 500 list of Canada’s fastest growing companies, and the naming of our founders to the Top 40 under 40 in Canada by BNN Bloomberg.

We are also proud to be the official jersey emblem partner of the New Orleans Pelicans and have forged strategic partnerships with USA Hockey and Habitat for Humanity. These partnerships reflect our passion for teamwork, excellence, and community involvement.

We are looking for a Design Lead - Home to join our team. This is a hands-on design role with strategic ownership: you will design, build, and maintain the assets that carry the brand from launch through growth, and you will shape how design decisions get made as the team scales.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and maintain all pages of the category e-commerce site: homepage, collection and product pages, landing pages, and content hub, within the established design system and brand guidelines.
  • Create high-fidelity mock-ups and page frameworks, grounded in e-commerce UX best practices and CRO research, and hand off developer-ready specs.
  • Partner with Digital/IT on responsive implementation, ensuring design intent survives across desktop and mobile.
  • Design product configurators, swatch and material presentations, and modular-layout visualizations that help customers understand and customize the product.
  • Use analytics, heatmaps, and A/B test results to iterate on page design; treat conversion data as design feedback, not a separate discipline.
  • Ensure all digital experiences meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and AODA requirements.
Produce and manage all digital content
  • Create engaging content for product launches, promotional events, and always-on campaigns: email, paid and organic social, display, video cutdowns, and site banners.
  • Design content with AI-era discoverability in mind: clear visual hierarchy, structured layouts, and imagery that supports how AI search engines and answer engines parse and cite pages.
  • Plan and manage content production timelines against the brand launch calendar, keeping project trackers current for stakeholder visibility.
  • Collaborate with the creative production team on photography and video requirements, including shot lists, set and interior styling direction, and lifestyle content.
  • Monitor content and campaign performance and use the data to sharpen future creative.
Support onboarding on retailer platforms
  • Own the creative asset packages required to onboard the category on retailer platforms such as Costco, Lowe's, Home Depot, Wayfair, and Amazon.
  • Adapt hero imagery, lifestyle photography, dimension diagrams, and feature callouts to each retailer’s image specifications, template requirements, and style guides.
  • Design enhanced content (A+ content, below-the-fold modules, comparison charts, and rich media) that communicates the modular system, materials, and configuration options within each platform’s constraints.
  • Build reusable asset templates per retailer so new SKUs, colorways, and configurations can be onboarded quickly without rebuilding from scratch.
  • Partner with the e-commerce and sales teams on syndication timelines, asset submission, and retailer feedback rounds, and maintain a per-retailer spec reference so requirements stay current.
  • Audit live retailer listings periodically for image quality, accuracy, and brand consistency, and refresh assets as the product line evolves.
Apply AI-assisted design and production workflows
  • Use generative and AI-assisted tools (Adobe, Claude Design, and comparable platforms) for concepting, image extension, retouching, versioning, and resizing with human judgment as the final quality gate.
  • Build repeatable, template-driven production systems so high-volume asset needs (channel resizes, seasonal refreshes, retail variants) do not bottleneck on manual work.
  • Maintain clear standards for where AI-generated imagery is and is not acceptable, protecting product accuracy and brand integrity.
  • Stay current on AI design tooling and evaluate new capabilities against real production needs, recommending adoption where it genuinely improves output or speed.
Design offline and physical brand assets
  • Design print collateral that extends the brand into the physical world: swatch kits and material sample packaging, lookbooks, product care guides, in-box inserts, and unboxing touchpoints.
  • Create signage and environmental graphics for showroom displays, retail partner placements, and experience center presence, adapting the digital design system to physical scale and materials.
  • Design assets for brand activations, pop-ups, trade events, and grand openings, including banners, backdrops, wayfinding, promotional handouts, and branded giveaways.
  • Prepare production-ready print files with correct color profiles, bleeds, dielines, and material specifications; manage proofing and quality control with print vendors.
  • Source and evaluate print and fabrication vendors, balancing quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Ensure visual consistency between digital and physical touchpoints so the brand reads as one system wherever a customer encounters it.
Provide leadership and stakeholder alignment
  • Act as the design authority for the category providing guidance and feedback to freelance and internal design support to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
  • Evaluate, brief, and manage freelance designers and production partners as project volume requires.
  • Report project status, milestones, and risks on a regular cadence.
  • Back design decisions with reference-based research and present findings to stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, growth, product development, and retail partners to gather the inputs design work depends on.
  • Work alongside the Product Development team to build deep knowledge of the product line, materials, and modular system.
Serve as centralized custodian of creative assets
  • Establish and maintain a systematic repository for all category creative assets with proper categorization, tagging, and metadata.
  • Implement digital asset management practices for efficient search, retrieval, and version control, including secure sharing with internal teams, partners, and vendors.
  • Conduct periodic audits of the asset library for completeness, relevance, and quality; identify gaps and close them.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • 3+ years of experience in digital design, preferably with a brand or agency in consumer home goods, furniture, or DTC e-commerce.
  • A degree or diploma in graphic design, experience design, or a related field, or an equivalent portfolio.
  • A portfolio demonstrating e-commerce and conversion-focused design work; DTC brand launch experience is a strong asset.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and AI design platforms.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted design and production tools, and sound judgment about when to use them.
  • Working knowledge of modern e-commerce platforms (SFCC or comparable) and how design decisions affect site performance.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A creative eye for design and the ability to articulate creative vision to collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accountability for own work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to take constructive criticism gracefully and offer alternate solutions to design challenges.
  • Team leadership or freelance management experience is prioritized.
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to communicate design choices clearly and concisely.
