Job summary

Multimatic is seeking Design Engineers for the Structures & Suspension Design Department at the Markham, Ontario campus. You will develop automotive structures and suspension components for OEMs, taking concepts to production with a focus on performance, cost, quality and manufacturability.

The role requires 3+ years of automotive design experience, proficiency in CATIA or NX, and strong DFMEA/DVP&R expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in automotive component design.
  • Proficient in CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred) for 3D modelling and GD&T drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for high-volume manufacture and assembly.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, structured root cause analysis methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team.
  • A genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Generate innovative design concepts for automotive structures and suspension products to satisfy OEM requirements.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings with GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with program management, process, and quality teams to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activities.
  • Support validation activities including CAE, testing, and design reviews.
  • Support department R&D and innovation activities related to automotive structures and suspension systems.
  • Analyze test results and support root-cause investigations to drive design improvements.
  • Participate in prototype builds, product launches, and manufacturing support activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Communicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements and provide design solutions.
