Job summary

Multimatic’s Mechanisms Engineering team in Markham, Ontario, is seeking Design Engineers to drive automotive components from concept to high-volume production, ensuring performance, cost, and manufacturability targets. You will create 3D CAD models and GD&T drawings, plus DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and validation studies, collaborating with PM, process, and QA teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years of proven automotive component design experience.
• Proficient in CAD software (CATIA or NX) for 3D modeling and drafting with GD&T.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and GD&T drawings.
• Lead validation studies, virtual and physical tests.
• Collaborate with PM, process, QA, and VA/VE teams for DFM/ DFA.
• Prototype hands-on assembly and customer-facing design solutions.

Multimatic’s Mechanisms Engineering team is looking for talented Design Engineers to help create innovative solutions for the world’s leading OEMs. Our team develops everything from Side Door Hinges to advanced motion systems, including Active Aerodynamic Devices and PowerDoor actuators. In this role, you’ll take automotive components from concept through to high-volume production, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings with GD&T, and engineering documentation such as DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, tolerance stack-ups and other engineering calculationsLead product development through defining and reviewing virtual and physical validation studiesWork in close partnership with program management, process and quality teams at Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activitiesCollaborate with Multimatic’s Electronics and Software teams to deliver integrated solutions for powered mechanismsHands-on assembly of new design concepts to support prototype builds, testing, and validationCommunicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions and program updatesGenerating innovative design concepts to satisfy OEM customer requirementsDrive continuous improvement in design process and product performanceQualifications & SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.3+ years of proven experience in automotive component designProficient in CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred) for 3D modelling and GD&T draftingStrong knowledge of kinematics, materials, and design for high-volume manufacture and assemblyUnderstanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, structured root cause analysis methodsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.A genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive world — ideally demonstrated through personal projects, Formula SAE participation, or hands-on work with your own vehicles.Please note this is a fully on-site role.This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
