Job summary

Multimatic in Markham, Ontario, is seeking Design Engineers to take automotive components from concept to high-volume production, ensuring performance, cost, and manufacturability targets are met.

You will create and review 3D CAD models, drawings with GD&T, and engineering documentation, while leading validation studies and coordinating with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and software groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of proven experience in automotive component design.
• Proficient in CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred) for 3D modelling and GD&T drafting.
• Strong knowledge of kinematics, materials, and design for high-volume manufacture and assembly.
• Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, structured root cause analysis methods.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• A genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive world — ideally demonstrated through personal projects, Formula SAE participation, or hands-on work with your own vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings with GD&T, and engineering documentation such as DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, tolerance stack-ups and other engineering calculations.
• Lead product development through defining and reviewing virtual and physical validation studies.
• Work in close partnership with program management, process and quality teams at Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activities.
• Collaborate with Multimatic’s Electronics and Software teams to deliver integrated solutions for powered mechanisms.
• Hands-on assembly of new design concepts to support prototype builds, testing, and validation.
• Communicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions and program updates.
• Generating innovative design concepts to satisfy OEM customer requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in design process and product performance.
