About the role

An opportunity exists for an Experienced Design Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. This is a full-time position for an immediate start. Reporting to the Design Engineering Coordinator, the role will be based in West Footscray.

You will be responsible for efficiently assisting the Design Engineering Coordinator with Miepol Designs for contracts.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Scope, investigate, define and prepare project plans for designs and investigations.
2. Manage the preparation of Civil Design Plans, specifications and estimates for a range of Civil design projects.
3. Review all design documentation prepared to ensure high accuracy, suitability for construction, and compliance with standards.
4. Ensure documentation and plans adhere to standards, legislation, and Miepol's quality processes.
5. Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on civil design projects.
6. Investigate, document, and prepare applications for statutory approvals.
7. Effectively liaise with Public Utilities, Authorities, Clients, and stakeholders regarding engineering matters and respond promptly.
8. Understand contract requirements for clients.
9. Maintain knowledge of policies, best practices, and challenges in Civil engineering design.
10. Conduct inspections of construction works and post-construction reviews to ensure compliance and suggest improvements.
11. Assist the Senior Design Coordinator to keep project design work within budget, profitable, and meet contractual requirements.
12. Support other Engineering design staff to promote teamwork, motivation, and customer focus.
13. Commit to continuous learning and professional development.
14. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders with a customer-focused approach.
15. Understand and comply with HSEQ policies and procedures.
16. Attend client meetings as required.
17. Display personal behavior aligned with Miepol values and act responsibly.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

1. Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
2. Experience in Civil engineering design and construction, especially civil infrastructure.
3. Project management experience coordinating consultants on multiple projects.
4. Knowledge of relevant legislative, statutory, and industry standards.
5. Experience in investigating and resolving design problems.
6. Proficiency in Civil infrastructure design and project management software like AutoCad Civil 3D (mandatory) and Microsoft Project.
7. Strong written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
8. Construction White Card and a valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
